What you shoot.

Jack Cardiff was a great cameraman. Not a documentarian but he was a subject of a documentary: Here & here is the official site.

What you choose to shoot and how you shoot is more than just showing what happens at the time. It should be used to convey more of the story. “Think about what the scene is suppose to say, as much as you can, both before it and during it…” ” to the broader structure, in terms of how you go about deciding what to film, how much of it to film and whom to film…”You should be asking yourself, what seems important, who’s compelling, how might the story be structured?” Not easy for beginners.
